Bases together
Work on one Obsidian base with other people at once, see which row, cell or card each is on, and keep both people's changes to its views.
A base in a shared folder is shared like a note in one. Open it while someone else has it open and you see where they are in it, and when you both change it, both changes are kept rather than one copy replacing the other.
What you see of each other
- Who has it open. The faces in the base's header are the people who have it open. Hover over one to see which view they are on.
- Where they are. The row, cell or card someone is on is outlined in their colour, in a table, in cards, in a list, and in the kanban view.
- Which entries are shared. Each shared entry carries the same sync mark as the file explorer: at the start of its row in a table, in the corner of a card, before the bullet in a list. Only marked entries can show where someone is. An entry without the mark is in your vault only, even if its name matches one that is shared.
The kanban view
Obsidian 1.14 adds a kanban view to bases, with a lane for each value of a property. Moving a card to another lane changes that property in the card's note, so a move reaches everyone like any other change to a note. Lanes added, hidden or moved in two vaults at once all keep their change.
You need Obsidian 1.14 or later to see the kanban view. Someone on an earlier Obsidian still sees the base, but not that view.
When you both change the same thing
- Different parts of a base — different filters, formulas or views — merge. Both people keep their change.
- The same filter or formula, at once: one change is kept in the base, and the other is kept as a conflict copy beside it. See Conflict copies and backups.
- The same presentation setting, at once, such as the sort or the column order: one value is kept, without a conflict copy.
- The same card, moved to two lanes at once: it lands in one of them, and the other choice is kept as a conflict copy.
Column widths are each person's own. Everything else about a view is shared.
