Remove someone or stop sharing
Take a person out of a shared folder, stop syncing a folder in one vault, or stop sharing it for everyone, and what each leaves on people's disks.
Three different things, from smallest to largest. None of them deletes the notes in anyone's vault.

Before you start
- Decide which of the three you need, using the table above.
- To remove someone or stop sharing, you must own the folder.
Steps
Remove someone from a folder
- Right-click the shared folder and choose Nectenda: People….
- Choose Remove beside the person.
Stop syncing a folder in this vault
- Right-click the folder and choose Nectenda: Folder settings…. Or open Settings, choose Nectenda, and choose the folder under This vault.
- Under Danger zone, choose Stop syncing here.
The same button is beside the folder on your organisation's page, under Shared folders → In this vault.
The folder stays shared, and everyone else carries on. You can add it back later.
Stop sharing a folder for everyone
- On the same folder page, under Danger zone, choose Stop sharing for everyone…. It is also beside the folder on your organisation's page.
- The dialog asks Unshare "…"?. Read it, then choose Unshare to confirm, or Keep sharing to go back.
Check the result
- A removed person is no longer listed in People in …, and a notice says Removed and their name.
- A folder you stopped syncing is no longer listed under This vault in the Nectenda settings; its files are still in your file explorer.
- A folder you stopped sharing disappears from everyone's list. Other people see it on the organisation's page under No longer shared, with Stop syncing here beside it and their notes untouched.
Troubleshooting
Will a removed person lose the notes they already have?
No. What someone has already downloaded, they keep, as files in their own vault. Removing them stops the server sending them anything new. The same is true when you stop sharing: nobody's vault is reached into.
I removed the wrong person
Invite them again. See Invite someone to a folder.
Can I take someone out of the whole organisation?
Yes. An owner or admin can choose Remove beside them under People on the organisation's page, in the Plan, storage and devices section. That frees their seat.
