Share links

Copy your organisation's share link so people can join it without an emailed invitation, and what someone who opens it can and cannot reach.

A share link lets anyone holding it take a seat in your organisation. It is useful for a group you trust; for one person, an emailed invitation is safer, because it only works for their address.

A share link brings someone into the organisation, not into any folder. Once they have joined, add them to the folders they need.

Before you start

You are an owner or admin of the organisation.
The organisation has a free seat. See Plans, storage and devices.

Steps

Open Settings, choose Nectenda, and open the organisation under Organisations.
Beside Invite to the organisation, choose Share link. The link is copied. Or run Nectenda: Copy an organisation's share link from the command palette.
Send it to the people you mean to invite.

To join with a link someone sent you

Sign in.
Open the link on a device where Obsidian is installed. Or open Settings → Nectenda, paste it into Join with a share link under Organisations, and choose Join. The command Nectenda: Join an organisation with a link… does the same.

Check the result

The person gets a notice saying You have joined and the organisation's name, and they appear under People on the organisation's page, in the Plan, storage and devices section. To give them a folder, right-click it, choose Nectenda: Invite to folder…, and type their address — someone already in the organisation is added straight away.

Troubleshooting

The organisation's share link is switched off. Use an emailed invitation instead.

Someone I did not mean to invite has joined

Remove them under People on the organisation's page, in the Plan, storage and devices section. They were not in any folder unless someone added them.
