Canvases together
Work on one Obsidian canvas with other people at once, and see their pointers, selections, and cards being moved, resized, linked and typed in.
A canvas in a shared folder works like a note in one. Open it while someone else has it open, and you work on it together. Changes appear for everyone as they are made, and the canvas is never replaced by one person's copy.
What you see of each other
- Pointers. Each person's mouse pointer is drawn on the board with their name, in their colour. When theirs is off your screen, it waits at the edge on the side where they are.
- Selections. A card someone has selected is outlined in their colour.
- Moving and resizing. While someone drags a card, or resizes it by a corner, you see an outline of it following their pointer. The card itself settles where they let go.
- Links. A link someone is drawing from one card to another is shown as they draw it.
- Typing in a card. A card someone is typing in is outlined with their name. Once it has caught up with their text, their caret shows where they are, and their selection is tinted in their colour.
- Typing in the same card. If you both have a card open, each of you sees the other's caret and selection inside it, as in a note.
Going to someone
The faces in the canvas's header are the people who have it open. Click one to move the board to where they are pointing.
When you both change the same thing
Two people typing in one card merge, keystroke by keystroke, as in a note. Two people changing the same thing about a card, such as its position or colour, at the same moment keep whichever change arrived last. Moving a card while someone else changes it waits for your drop, and then your position is the one kept.
Turning pointers off
Your pointer is shared on canvases as on notes. To keep it to yourself, click the Nectenda status icon and turn off Share my mouse pointer. See Editing together.
